I hope everyone is doing as well as possible during this difficult time.

As the COVID-19 Crisis has unfolded, I have had quite a few people ask me about the impact on the Gear Industry. In my normal day to day contacts I talk to many gear people but did not ask specific related questions to gauge the overall extent.

For this reason, on April 15, AGS conducted a survey of the companies in our contact database to gain insight into the overall impact on gear makers.

What we found was interesting. In evaluating responses, the various segments of aerospace, commercial, and automotive gear manufacturing are experiencing notably different impacts from the crisis. While automotive has experienced dramatic reductions, in some cases near-complete shutdowns, the impact on the other segments have ranged from moderate to minimal.
